The Sahaara is a great first project for lots of women who are learning to make their own bra. The fit is relatively uncomplicated, and it's easy to sew. So many women find this bra comfortable and easy to wear -- and they're making them by the dozen! Plus, there are so many options on how to put your bra together. It's a wardrobe in a single pattern! This kit has everything that you'll need to complete the project in whichever of the variations that you prefer.
We've sourced all sorts of wonderful fabrics, colors and laces for all of our bras, and this one is no exception. All of our Sahaara kits this year feature some sort of lace or overlay, which sounds a bit tricky but really won't be tricky at all. We'll walk you through every step of the process in the Hive during our twice-weekly live meetings. We actually have one meeting just to talk about straps! To make this project the most achievable, we recommend that you choose the Sheer Cup Lining base fabric option. This fabric is nice and easy to sew. Our Microduoplex is our stable opaque fabric, which is soft and lovely, You can also pick up a Practice Kit so that you can practice your techniques on fabric that you don't really care about. We also are offering an option to include all the variations of the lower band so that you don't have to decide which you want to make in advance. You might want to make a longline like the black and white Dionne) and black and pink (Parisienne) samples, use a hidden lower band elastic like the cream and purple variation (Sugared Violets) or use a wide visible band like the yellow and white Ambrosia (which comes with a Bee charm -- so fun!!). You can add some black accents to the Ambrosia to really play up the Bee theme!
We are offering our bra kits in 2 sizes, Larger and Smaller. The primary difference is in the amount of cup fabric. The secondary difference is in the size of the findings and the weight of the power net. You can choose if you want your findings sized to a smaller size or a larger size, and the weight of your power net will vary with whether you ask for Larger or Smaller findings. You can also upgrade to include matching thread, extra lace, an additional Bra Finishing Kit, and to pick up the pattern. Many women can get 2 bras with our kits. Finally, it's so fun to make the matching panty! We'll be sewing the Friday French Cut undies as a Sew Along this year, and this comes with both a thong back and a full seat back.
